Agony and Ecstasy explores a principle in history that has archetypally manifested itself throughout all cultures. Here we have multiple depictions of the Virgin Mary stacked in conjunction to multiple Chinese Foo Dogs – these statues are traditionally placed in front of homes as a symbol of guarding family cohesion. Together they state that all societies venerate and protect the mother and child archetype, and all civilizations who fail to do so fall into chaos.
