Description
Created 2019
From the Flag series. These works portray faces of Americans; in this case against images of Manazar Detention Camp where Japanese Americans were incarcerated during WW2. Many Americans have grandparents who experienced great challenges and hardship so that subsequent generations might have better opportunities. These works attempt to renegotiate feelings of patriotism and nationalism in order to include those whose roles in nation building have been marginalized.
